Sydney-based composer Christine Pan is embarking on ‘The Parts We Give’, a song-cycle exploring the nuanced presentation of love of an immigrant Chinese family residing in Australia. Through eight emotionally electrifying songs, Christine captures the struggles, joys and complex bonds of immigrant children, exploring themes of “face”, reciprocity, and love’s many layers. With two voices, piano, and electronics, this work is an unforgettable journey into identity and connection. Blush is excited to be assisting Christine with the development and presentation of The Parts We Give which will begin its worldwide journey in Sydney with Blush. Further performances include the Parramatta Lanes Festival and Tenth Muse Initiative in Perth in 2026. An international premiere is planned for the ACMI Conference in Los Angeles, as well as an interactive presentation by French-based FABLE ARTS. For this project, Christine received commission from the 2024 Art Music Fund.
